It’s day 3 of the 31 Days of Candy, and we’re making jellybeans today! This one is so cute that I can’t get enough of it. It’s just so tiny and squish able that I love it! Jellybeans have always been one of the most fun candies in my opinion. You can make them into literally any flavor from sweet and normal flavors to gross ones. (Anyone tried the puke flavor before? I don’t think I could ever eat that!) No matter the flavor, I can’t eat Jellybeans. Oh how I wish I could, but no matter what brand they’re usually made in a place with peanuts, which is my deathly allergy. I’ve tried to find one that I could have, but sadly I’ve never had any luck. Maybe that’s why I love this little crocheted jellybean so much, because even though I can’t eat it I can have it with me all the time!
Fun fact about jellybeans: they were first made in the Civil War when confectioner William Schrafft promoted people sending his jellybeans to soldiers who were off fighting. They never really took off though until they gained popularity in Newspapers in the 1900s. Who would have thought?
This little jellybean was a challenge designing for me because I had to figure out how to add an indent to the jellybean without compromising the curved shape of it. Despite the challenge, I came up with an easy way to create that shape! It’s so easy in fact, that you’ll want to make them in all sorts of colors. I know I want one in each color of yarn that I have. You can use this pattern with any weight of yarn, and it will turn out great. So let’s get started on making one!
