Jolly Lolly Free Crocher Candy Lollipop Pattern 31 Days of Candy Day 1

Do you love candy, but don’t want the sugar rush or calories that come with it? Well you’re in luck, because this Halloween season E’Claire Makery is doing 31 days of candy! I have been planning this blog series since July, and am so excited that the time has finally come for it. After seeing the 100 day project that Lauren Espy did with her business A Menagerie of Stitches, I knew that I wanted to do something similar, but didn’t know what. Then I started thinking about fall, because it’s my favorite season, and thought of what design could I do for October since it’s the month of my wedding and Halloween. The thought of mini candies kept popping in my head. I’ve never been much of a Halloween fan, but I sure could get behind a month of candy! So here we are with a month of free mini crochet candies that I have put together for you, and am so excited to share the first of those patterns my Lollipop Crochet Pattern!

The first candy I’ve created is a lollipop called the Jolly Lolly inspired by those giant, round, rainbow lollipops kids get at carnivals or at Disneyland. They’re so big that you can’t fit them in your mouth, yet the challenge of finishing it makes it taste even better. Your face gets covered in sticky, rainbow goodness, and it’s amazing. This pattern is a lot less messy, and is much smaller too. To create the colorful lollipop, I used Loops and Threads Kai and Paintbox Yarn Simple DK for the stick. They complement each other perfectly to create a mini plushie that captures all of the nostalgia of those giant rainbow lollipops. It’s extra fun size so that you can take it anywhere or make it into a keychain. I love it’s happy face!

Materials

Stitches Used:

  • st = stitch
  • blo = back loops only

Recipe Notes:

  • The pieces of the lollipop are crocheted in continuous rounds with no joining. Mark the beginning of each round with a stitch marker.
  • Pattern uses US crochet terminology, but the UK terminology conversion is listed in the stitches used list above
  • Face is made of felt pieces that are cut out and sewn on to crocheted piece. Download my Felt Pieces for Plushies PDF Printout for the face pieces you’ll cut out of felt. If you don’t know how to sew on felt pieces, see my Youtube video below that shows how to do it.
