Peppermint Ornaments 3 Ways

Peppermint Ornaments 3 Ways: Free Crochet Patterns by E'Claire Makery

Peppermint candies, the iconic Christmas candies that bring about festive cheer wherever they’re given. I love the fresh minty taste of them, and the pretty swirls of red and white, or the rainbow colors that they sometimes come in! Since I love this Christmas candy so much, I knew that I needed to make some peppermint ornaments to decorate my tree with this holiday season. So I created 3 different peppermint ornaments as a part of my Christmas collection.

Premier Yarns Everyday Yarn is perfect for these peppermint candies! Whether you’re doing a normal red & white candy, or a fun rainbow candy, this yarn is perfect for it. As a special treat for my readers/followers, Premier Yarns is offering 10% of all yarn purchases on their website if you use the code: EM10%. What a great way to be able to make a whole range of peppermint ornaments!

Candy Swirl: (Using Candy Accent Colors)

In 4 different colors, Ch 40, fasten off, leave a tail for sewing on one of the chains

Then line up 4 chains in the color order you’d like, and cut off the yarn ends of 3 of the chains. Then twist them together. Roll the twisted chains up into a swirl, and taking one of the long strands of yarn you left on the chain, sew the chains together in their swirl.

I’ve also created a video tutorial for how to make this candy swirl! You can check it out on my Youtube channel below:

Candy Cane Swirl: Using Really Red and White

Ch 40, fasten off, leave a tail for sewing on one of the chains

Then line up the 2 chains and cut off the yarn ends of 1 of the chains. Then twist them together. Roll the twisted chains up into a swirl, and taking one of the long strands of yarn you left on the chain, sew the chains together in their swirl. The same Candy Swirl Ornament video shows the same technique.

Candy Cane Ornament: Using Really Red and White

Making one in each color, ch 30, fasten off.

Take the pipe cleaner, and twist the chains around the pipe cleaner. When you reach the end, fold the ends of the pipe cleaner to secure the chains on it. Then bend it to be the shape of a candy cane, and trim the ends.
