Winter Crochet Along with Mary Maxim: Week 1

You know that moment when you get an opportunity for something that you can hardly believe is happening? You get that chance to go for it, and you don’t know whether to be excited or nervous or to just forget about it? That moment and opportunity came for me when I got the chance to begin working with the yarn company Mary Maxim. A yarn company wanted to work with me, Claire! I got to do an amazing collaboration with Premier Yarns on my Christmas collection, and now I had the chance to work with another one. Now, together with Mary Maxim, we bring you the Winter Crochet Along, which uses their Snowman Baskets Crochet Kit.

What is a Crochet Along or CAL you might ask? A Crochet Along is a crochet event where a group of people work on the same project over a few weeks. The host of the crochet along will pick a pattern for the group to work on, and over the course of several weeks the pattern will be split up into parts that the group works on each week. It’s a great way to be a part of the crochet community, and is a fun time to work on a project with other makers!

Our project that we’re working on is the Snowman baskets kit from Mary Maxim. These baskets are an adorable addition to your winter decor, and their cute faces will make you smile all winter long. When Mary Maxim asked me to pick out a kit from them, these baskets immediately spoke to me when I saw them. They match my style exactly and I thought you would all love them as well!

In order to get the full experience for these baskets, I highly recommend getting the kit to work through. Each kit comes with the pattern and all of the yarn you need for making the baskets. If you don’t have a chance to get the kit though, I’ll be including a supplies list you’ll need with some of my favorite recommendations that would work great for this pattern. However, you won’t want to miss the amazing colors and sparkles of the Mary Maxim Starlette Yarn. I love it!

Before we jump into the details of what you’ll need for the Crochet Along, I want to share with you guys about the yarn that we get to use for this project. For the majority of the pattern, we’ll be using Mary Maxim Starlette Sparkle yarn. As a huge lover of glitter and sparkles, this yarn really speaks to my soul. It’s also super soft, and I want to make so many things with it. It’s a worsted weight yarn that we use two strands of to help make this project go even faster. It also can be used for almost any project that you could imagine. I definitely give this yarn high marks!

Winter Crochet Along Week 1 with ECLAIREMAKER.COM & MARY MAXIM

Now that you’ve gathered all of your supplies and know what techniques we’ll be using, it’s time to get started on making the baskets! This week we’ll be working on bottom of the baskets. If you’re making the small size of basket, crochet rounds 1-10, and if you’re making the large basket crochet rounds 1-12. This is a great time to practice crocheting in the round, so grab your pattern and yarn, and let’s crochet!

Happy stitching!
