Anyone else ever feel like your brain is completely dead and you need something to help you get out of it? I am definitely feeling that way. Today’s candy for Day 23 of the 31 Days of Candy, is a Candy Ring, inspired by LifeSaver candies, which I could need right about now. This candy was a favorite of my sister and I when we were kids. We loved those colorful candy rings, and all of the fun flavors that they had. I wish that I could name this pattern a LifeSaver, but since it is trademarked, I decided to name it a Candy Ring.
Right now I’ve been feeling like I need a LifeSaver to help me with the creative slump I’ve been in. My brain has been feeling so exhausted with creating a new candy each day, along with writing up a blog post and newsletter for them. I totally underestimated how much of an undertaking this event was going to be for me while having to get ready for my wedding. I’ve loved being able to create candies, and see my collection of cute candies grow. However, it takes a toll on my creative spirit at having a deadline each day for creating a new pattern and post. I put a lot of work into each post and pattern, so it takes a lot of my energy. Don’t get me wrong, I’m glad I did this event, but I’m definitely looking forward to my one week break next week for my honeymoon!
This pattern is the exact one done for the Peach Ring, with a few alterations done to differentiate it from the other pattern. Only one yarn color is used for making this, since LifeSavers are usually a solid color. I chose Seville Orange by Paintbox Yarns. Orange has always been a lot of my favorite flavors, and since I didn’t have a lot of orange candies made for this event I really wanted to make one. I’d love to see all of the colors of the rainbow be made in each of these! (Maybe I’ll have to do a little side project of that…) I hope you guys enjoy making these!

Peach Ring:
Starting with Yellow (Main Color)
Rnd 1: ch 9, sl st in first chain to join
Rnd 2: ch 1, sc 2 in each ch (16), join
Rnd 3: ch 1, *sc 1, sc 2 in next st *repeat 7 more times, join (24)

Fasten off and leave a tail for sewing. Now it’s time to sew on the face.
Sew on eye pieces as pictured, and stitch a mouth by making a “v” shape with black thread. Then using the tail of yarn you left when fastening off, stitch the candy closed by stitching around the center ring. After it is closed, fasten off and weave in ends. Once, you’re done doing that, your candy is finished!
