Fairy stick anyone? Today’s candy of the day is a Fairy stick inspired by the thin sticks of sugar known as Pixie Sticks. That candy was always one that my sister and I loved getting as kids, and their sugary goodness was always so delicious. I mean if they’re made of complete sugar that’s fruity flavored, what’s not to love?
The idea of this candy came from one of my Instagram followers making the suggestion that I make a Pixie Stick. I had all of candies planned except for three, and I was in such a creative slump that I couldn’t think of anything to make. When my Instagram friend suggested a Pixie Stick, a lightbulb lit up in my head. Ideas started flowing in and I once again had my creative thinking back! I right away thought of doing a crocheted long piece that was similar to the Licorice Pattern I created, but had some cute fairy add ons along with being in a cute variegated yarn I used for the Salt Water Taffy Pattern.
I’ve always loved fairies and all kinds of magical things! My sister and I loved the Disney fairies, and played the online Disney Pixie Hollow game while it was still a thing. We’d dress our fairies up in fun clothes, make fairy houses, and fly around going on adventures. I loved having a tiny fairy that Got to play with. Now, I have a little fairy that I can have with my anywhere I go!
This pattern is full of some fun and simple techniques that make a super cute Fairy stick. You’ll create a stick using single crochet stitches, make some fairy wings, and cute blue hair using the same technique I use in my StrawBeary Milkshake pattern to create whip cream. I used Loops and Threads Kai, Premier Yarns Downton Abbey Yarn, and Paintbox Yarns Simply DK to create this candy. This pattern has a lot of flexibility with what yarn you use, and you can create any type of Fairy Stick you like using any DK weight yarn. Let’s get started!
