One of my favorite accessories to crochet and use is bags! From purses to pouches, I love them all! If you’re looking for a fun summer crochet bag to carry all of your goodies, then look no further than my newest guest blogger pattern the Penelope Pouch by Twenty Four Threads. This simple and modern crochet pouch pattern is a great easy bag for beginners!
I love the simplicity and style that this pattern has. Using single crochets, this pouch uses crochet stitches to add texture to the outside of pouch. It’s clean lines make it perfect to go with any outfit! The pattern is made with Bernat Maker Home Decor yarn, which is a sturdy bulky weight yarn, so that it can withstand almost anything. I’d love to use it for beach trips or a fun night out with my girlfriends!
Without further ado, let me introduce you to Lauren of Twenty Four Threads, and her Penelope Pouch crochet pattern!

Hey y’all! My name is Lauren and I am the maker and designer behind Twenty Four Threads. I am new to crochet community, having learned only two years ago and started my maker journey eight months ago. Ever since then, I haven’t been able to put my hook down! I love making designs that use basic crochet stitches to create beautiful pieces. The Penelope Pouch is the perfect project for any level crochet. It uses primarily single crochet and it is a quick and easy weekend project. Using a surface slip stitch, you can make any design you want to and add fun tassels or pom-poms to have a completely customized pouch!

Blocking is recommended to help with shaping.
Using Color B, do two rows of surface slip stitch around the edge of each panel to create a double line border. You may also choose to create a design of your choice.

ASSEMBLY:
Lay your two panels on top of each other with the right sides facing out. Using Color B, join your yarn at the top left corner and single crochet around to the top right corner. You will need to go through the loops on both panels to join them together. Tie off and weave the ends.
OPTIONAL:
If you would like to, you can add a zipper, snaps, or closure of your choice. You can also add tassels or pom-poms!
