Don’t you just love cake?? I’m in love with these Crochet Cake Slice Coasters that I’ve designed for the Learn How to Crochet for Beginners Series! The bright yellow and pink capture the fluffy texture and fun color of a slice of strawberry cake. Makes me want to make enough to put on every table in my house.
This pattern was designed to be a simple and easy crochet project that is perfect for a quick gift or treat for yourself. It is a sampler of sorts of the main basic crochet stitches such as single crochet, double crochet, triple crochet, etc. You’ll love how easy this project is! I don’t know about you, but I’m going to be making quite a few of these for Christmas gifts this year.

Materials:
~ Hobby Lobby I Love This Cotton (Yarn Weight 4, Worsted):
- 1 Skein Buttercup
- 1 Skein Rosey II
~ 1 skein Vanna’s Choice Cranberry (Yarn Weight 4, Worsted)
~ Scissors
Stitches Used:
~ ch – chain stitch
~ sl – slip stitch
~ sc – single crochet
~ dc – double crochet
~ hdc – half double crochet
~ tr – triple crochet
~ r – row
~ sk – skip
Recipe Notes:
~This pattern includes multiple color changes throughout the pattern.
~Any worsted weight yarn will work with this pattern! All you have to do is pick which ones will substitute each color, and then you can have the coaster look however you’d like. I’d love to see someone make a chocolate cake slice!

R1: starting in second ch from hook, sc 14, ch 2 turn (14)
R2: dc 14 across,(Switch to Hobby Lobby I Love This Cotton – Rosey II) ch 2, turn (14)
R3: hdc 14 across,(Switch back to Hobby Lobby I Love This Cotton – Buttercup) ch 3, turn (14)
R4: tr 14 across, (Switch to Hobby Lobby I Love This Cotton – Rosey II) ch 2, turn (14)
R5: hdc 14 across, (Switch back to Hobby Lobby I Love This Cotton – Buttercup) ch 2, turn (14)
R6: dc 14 across, ch 2, turn (14)
R7: sc 14 across, (Switch to Hobby Lobby I Love This Cotton – Rosey II) ch 2, turn (14)
R8: hdc 14 across. ch 2, turn (14)
R9: *sc 1, sk 1, dc 4 in next st, sk 1,* repeat from * to * two more times, sc 1
Strawberry
(Using Vanna’s Choice Cranberry)
ch 6
R1: starting in second ch from hook, dec 1, sc 1, dec 1, ch 1, turn
R2: sc 3, ch 1, turn
R3: sl st 1, sc 1, sl st 1
R4: sk 1, sc 1, sl st 1
Fasten off and leave a tail for sewing. Sew to top of cake slice coaster.
There you have it, your cake slice coaster is now completed and ready to hold all of your warm drinks this fall!
