Peach Ring Free Crochet Pattern: 31 Days of Candy Day 14 by E'Claire MakeryWelcome to day 14 of the 31 Days of Candy! We’re almost halfway through this month already, which means we have 17 patterns left to go. Are you ready for today’s candy? It’s a Peach Ring, inspired by one of my sister’s favorite candies, Peachos. Though this candy sure looks pretty with the lovely orange, red, and yellow tones, I’ve never been able to understand the appeal of the flavor. I’d take a real peach over a peach candy any day.

Growing up both sets of my grandparents lived in the California Central Valley, which is the heart of fruit growing and farms in California. On both sides of my family my grandparents lived on farms with extensive peach orchards that produced delicious and wonderful fruit every year. As a kid my grandpa would take us out on his golf cart and drive us grandkids throughout the orchards, and make a few stops along the drive to pick some fresh peaches off of the tree. Once you experience having fresh fruit right off the tree, it’s very hard to go back to getting it at the grocery store.

Eating peaches on the farm when I was little

Here’s a picture of my sister and I when we were little on my grandparent’s farm with peaches we just picked from the orchard. Who knew eating peaches could look so cute? I’m the one in the purple shirt, always ready to be in front of the camera, haha.

I think my sister would say that all of the nostalgia from the farm is wrapped up in Peach Rings for her, and I tried to capture that in this pattern. Even though I don’t like the candy, I love the fun tye dye affect of the yarn colors in this crochet pattern. I used different colors of Paintbox Yarns to create this candy pattern, and try to recreate the colors of Peach Rings. You can use any yarn brand in similar colors to capture this same type of pattern. I recommend using Lion Brand 24/7 cotton  in Lemon, Red, and Tangerine.

This pattern is all crocheted in one piece, with a few color changes. Don’t let that deter you though, because the color changes are nice and easy! Once you’ve crocheted the whole pattern, you just have to sew on the face and seal it up to get a nice crocheted Peach Ring. It’s fun, fast, and simple! Let’s get started!

Materials

Stitches Used:

  • st = stitch
  • sc = single crochet (UK Double Crochet)
  • dec = decrease
  • join = join round together by slip stitching into ch 1 you did at the beginning of the round

Recipe Notes:

  • The peach ring is crocheted in one piece in continuous rounds with joining. Mark the beginning of each round with a stitch marker.
  • Pattern uses US crochet terminology, but the UK terminology conversion is listed in the stitches used list above
  • Face is made of felt pieces that are cut out and sewn on to the crocheted piece. Download my Felt Pieces for Plushies PDF Printout for the face pieces you’ll cut out of felt. Cut out two eyes from black felt, one mouth from pink felt, and a tongue from red felt. If you don’t know how to sew on felt pieces, see my Youtube video below that shows how to do it.

Cut the face pieces out of felt and sew on as pictured above. I sewed my face on the yellow side, which is the solid side. You can sew it on the patterned side instead if you like it better. It’s really up to you which one you like better!

Once the face is sewn on, it is time to seal up the peach ring. Using the long tail you left when you fastened off the ring, thread your yarn needle. Whatever ends are leftover either stuff into the ring, or weave them in. Then you will sew the inner ring closed by sewing through the center ring of both sides. Sew up and down along the inner ring until it is completely closed. After you sew it closed, fasten it off and weave in the end.

Once it’s fastened off, you’ll have a finished peach ring! It’s so cute it almost makes me want an actual peach ring candy, haha. I hope you enjoyed making it, and maybe tried something that you didn’t think you knew before! If you’d like to receive the 31 Days of Candy free crochet patterns delivered directly to your inbox throughout the month of October, sign up for my newsletter here and receive a new one each day.
