New to Tapestry Crochet and Colorwork?
When I was first learning how to do crochet color work, I often felt so lost having to learn how to do color changes and reading crochet graphs. It can seem so intimidating to learn a new crochet skill! If you’re new to tapestry crochet or color work, then I’ve got just the resource for you.
Here on my blog, I’ve got a two free crochet tutorial for how to do tapestry crochet and intarsia crochet, which are the two most common crochet color work techniques. They’ll walk you through what each technique is, how to read crochet graphs, how to change colors in crochet, and a bunch of other tips I have for color work! You can find them here on my blog at:
– The Beginner’s Guide to Tapestry Crochet: (This technique is used when you would like to carry your yarn, and the color work is close together.)
– The Beginner’s Guide to Intarsia Crochet: (This technique is used when you don’t want to carry your yarn, and instead would like to use yarn bobbins. I used this for this pattern.)

Pattern Notes:
- Pattern uses US crochet terminology.
- Ch 2 at the beginning of each row does not count as a stitch.
- Pattern is worked in 2 panels, then seamed together, and then have the sleeves worked off of the armholes.
- Within the pattern, each size’s instructions are listed side by side. It will be written like the following with the smallest size starting first and going up to the largest size in that grouping: ch 31 (32, 34, 35, 37, 38). If a size doesn’t do that particular part, there will be an x where the stitch amount would normally be. I recommend highlighting your size.
- Panels are worked flat, and sleeves are worked in the round.
- If you add rows to each panel for added length, make sure to add the same amount of rows to both the front and back panels.
Chart Notes:
- Each size grouping has its own chart for their size.
- Each square on the chart counts as one stitch.
- Some squares on the chart represent bobble stitches (see abbreviations for instructions). Be sure to pay attention to the chart key to know which color means which type of stitch.
- There are a few different chart options that can be picked for each size, along with a blank chart that you can customize the toppings on.

Seaming Instructions Sizes 12-18m (18-14M, 2T, 3T, 4, 5):
With right sides together, put the front and back panels together to begin seaming. Pin the shoulders up to the point of the neckline. From the top, measure 3.75 (4, 4, 4.25, 4.5, 4.75)” down on each side. Pin at the bottom of that measurement to form the armhole, then pin along the rest of the side to the hem.
Seam from the hem, to the bottom of the armhole along each side. Then seam along each shoulder in approximately 3 inches to form the neckline. If you would like to allow more room for the head, you don’t have to seam in 3 inches on each side. Fasten off and weave in ends. Then move to the shoulders.
Sleeves Sizes 12-18m (18-14M, 2T, 3T, 4, 5):
With right sides facing outward, join CC3 (or color of your choice for the sleeves) with a sl st to the bottom of one of the armholes.
