If there’s one food that has a pizza my heart, it’s definitely pizza! I could eat it everyday, and still want more. While I was growing up my family and I would get pizza every Friday night (and often a few Sundays too, haha) for as long as I can remember. That tradition has stuck with me, and has helped develop a deep love of pizza. My husband and I have even continued the tradition of once a week pizza because he loves it as much as I do. So of course I had to design a crochet pizza, the Pizza My Heart free crochet pattern!
After the first time of hearing the pun Pizza my Heart, I knew it would be one of my favorite puns hands down because pizza holds such a special place in my heart. I originally designed a cross stitch pattern that centers around it, but after deciding to do my Puntastic pattern collection for the year, I picked Pizza my Heart as the pun for February. Love and pizza go hand in hand for me! That’s how this adorable heart shaped crochet pizza came into being.

To make this pizza, I used Mary Maxim Amigurumi yarn, which is a weight 3 cotton blend yarn, that is perfect for amigurumi. It’s light weight gives it the ability to be used in all sorts of ways, and is nice a soft when you work it up. The pattern overall is beginner friendly, especially when going hand in hand with my video tutorial! It uses single crochets for the majority of the work, with some bobble stitches thrown in for the pepperonis. By making this, you’ll even learn how to join two pieces together to make one piece. It’s a really fun pattern to make, and you’ll have it made in no time!

Supplies:
- Yarn weight 3, DK yarn in Brown, yellow, orange, and red
- G/6 4.0mm crochet hook (I like to use Athena’s Elements ergonomic crochet hooks because they help bring down my wrist and arm pain significantly. You can get a whole set of them for a great deal on Amazon below.)
- 8mm safety eyes and backings (I got a set of safety eyes on amazon that had sizes ranging from 6mm-12mm for the cost of the individual ones, and then you can use them for any type of amigurumi. They’ve worked really great for me! You can get the set below.)
- Embroidery Needle
- Black embroidery thread
Stitches Used:
- Rnd = Round
- St = Stitch
- Sc = single crochet
- Dec = decrease
- Bobble = bobble stitch (*yarn over, insert hook into stitch, yarn over, pull through two loops,* repeat till you have six loops on your hook, then yarn over and pull yarn through all six) If you’ve never done a bobble stitch before, check out my Youtube video below on my channel E’Claire Makery that shows how to do it!

Notes:
- Pattern uses U.S. terminology.
- Made in continuous rounds with no joining. Mark first stitch of round with a stitch marker.
- This pattern is made by starting with two crochet rounds made separately that are joined together by single crocheting to create one piece. This process is detailed in my video tutorial.
- Cheese color is made using two strands of yarn, but you could easily use a two toned yarn to make the affect as well.

Crust Pieces (Make 2):
Rnd: sc 5 in magic ring (5)
Rnd 2: sc 2 in each sc around (10)
Rnd 3: sc 1, sc 2 in next st (15)
Rnd 4: sc 2, sc 2 in next st (20)
Rnd 5-6: sc 20 (20)
On first piece fasten off after row 6, and don’t fasten off on second piece. Once second piece is done you’ll join the two round pieces together to begin working in one piece.
Main Pizza Worked off of two crust pieces:
Rnd 7 (worked off of 2nd piece): start round by joining two circles together by sc 5 through the last row of both pieces, then begin sc around both circles and sc 35
Switch to using orange and yellow yarn together.
Rnd 8-9: sc 35 around (35)
Rnd 10: *sc 5, dc 1*, repeat 4 more times around (30)
Rnd 11: sc 4, (switch to red) bobble 1, (switch back to orange and yellow) sc 6, (switch to red) bobble 1, (switch back to orange and yellow) sc 5, (switch to red) bobble 1, (switch back to orange and yellow) sc 5, (switch to red) bobble 1, (switch to orange and yellow) sc 4, (switch to red) bobble 1, (switch back to orange and yellow) sc 1 (30)
Rnd 12: sc 30
Rnd 13: *sc 4, dc 1,* repeat 4 more times around (25)
Rnd 14: sc 2, (switch to red) bobble 1, (switch back to orange and yellow) sc 4, (switch to red) bobble 1, (switch back to orange and yellow) sc 10, (switch to red) bobble 1, (switch back to orange and yellow) sc 6

Attach safety eyes and sew on mouth.

Stuff completely.

Fasten off and weave in ends.
