May Flowers Blanket Crochet Along – Week 1: Daisy Block

“April flowers bring May Flowers,” this well known quote is coming true this year, because it is bringing the May Flowers Crochet Blanket Pattern! Made with lots of spring cheers, this blanket is composed of 9 blocks that each have a unique flower on it. From Sunflowers to Dahlias, almost all of my favorite flowers are on here! The tapestry crochet color work on this graphgan creates such a beautiful crochet flower blanket that is a true work of art. It would make a beautiful crochet throw or afghan in your home!

Inspiration

I absolutely love flowers, but due to my seasonal allergies, I often can’t have them around me because I sneeze all the time. After, I grew to love doing tapestry crochet, I got the idea to create a crochet flower blanket with all of my favorite flowers on it. My husband suggested that I name it the May Flowers Blanket, and so I rushed to create the blanket in time for May so that I could start the May Flowers Crochet Along! It came out better than I could have ever dreamed, and is now one of my most favorite designs that I have created so far.

The Yarn

For this design, I got all of the yarns I used from Hobby Lobby, because I love the pastel colors they have in their different yarn brands. I used Hobby Lobby I Love This Yarn, Yarn Bee Soft & Sleek, and Premier Everyday. They are all weight 4 worsted weight yarns that make a nice and cozy blanket. I love how all of the colors blend together so well so that they all look beautiful together. Don’t have a Hobby Lobby near you? No problem! You can use whatever yarn you would like to use for this blanket! Any Lion Brand Vanna’s Choice, Red Heart Super Saver, Red Heart Soft, Caron Simply Soft, or Premier Everyday are all great choices that will make just as gorgeous flowers as the yarns I used. This blanket design is super customizable so that you can use whatever colors you want!

The May Flowers Crochet Along

Recently, Pam from The Crochetprenuer, Lisa from Stitch in Progress, and I all started a wonderful crochet Facebook group called Our Crochet Community. It’s an encouraging place for crocheters to be together, share their designs, and grow together as crocheters. This crochet blanket is the perfect first crochet along to do in the group, and I’m so excited to see everyone share their blocks as the crochet along progresses. Click here to join the group and in the crochet along starting on May 13!

As a part of the crochet along, I will be releasing one block as a free crochet pattern for the next nine weeks. The first block to be released is the Daisy Block, which is one of my favorites. It’s springy and fun all in one block! The free crochet pattern released each week includes a written tapestry crochet pattern to make the block. If you’re like me and like charts instead, you can grab a premium version of the crochet pattern on Ravelry or Etsy.
