Welcome strawberry season with the adorable Strawberries and Cream Blanket! This adorable free crochet blanket pattern features strawberries and stripes of bobble stitches. It’s a great first time tapestry crochet blanket pattern to make, that uses easy crochet techniques to make a beautiful blanket.

This strawberry crochet blanket pattern was inspired by my love of strawberries and strawberry shortcake! Strawberries are one of my favorite fruits, and I’m honestly surprised that I haven’t made a strawberry blanket pattern till now. I would love to have strawberries on all of my spring and summer decor!

How to Crochet the Strawberries and Cream Blanket

My goal with this strawberry crochet blanket was to have it have a simple construction with easy tapestry crochet color work. Sometimes you just want a project that has mostly mindless stitches so you can have some relaxing crochet time.

There are two sections of tapestry crochet, and the rest is half double crochet or bobble stitches. Both the strawberries and cream rows are made up of bobble stitches, which adds a lovely texture to the blanket.

Dimensions:

Yarn: Basic Stitch Anti Pilling in 4 colors:

Color A: Blush Heather: (Laghan Size) 8 skeins
Color B: Ecru: (Lapghan Size) 2 skeins
Color C: Red Heather: (Both Sizes) 1 skein
Color D: Pine Heather: (Both Sizes) 1 skein

Abbreviations:

Ch = chain
st(s) = stitch(es)
Hdc = half double crochet
Bobble = bobble stitch (*yarn over, insert hook into stitch, yarn over, pull through two loops,* repeat till you have 5 loops on your hook, then yarn over and pull yarn through all 5)
[ ] = do everything within the brackets
( ) = contains either the color to switch to, or the number of times something needs to be repeated for the lapghan size.

Pattern Notes:

This pattern uses US crochet terminology.
The ch 2 at the beginning of each row does not count as a stitch.

Starting with Color A

Row 1: Ch 142, starting in 3rd ch from hook, hdc 140

Rows 2-9: Ch 2, turn, hdc 140

Switch to Color B

Row 10: Ch 2, turn, *hdc 1, bobble 1, repeat from * across

Switch back to Color A

Rows 11-13: Ch 2, turn, hdc 140

Fasten off and weave in ends.

After the blanket is finished, stitch on the seeds for the strawberries by using leftover Color B yarn or white yarn. Stitch the seeds on the tops of each Color C bobble. I stitched a small “v” on each bobble.

I’m having trouble with the pattern. The video says to put 3 rows between the bobble row and the color work but your written pattern says to put two rows. Am I reading something wrong in the pattern? I have been starting row 13 with color work which puts the bobbles on the wrong side of the pattern. I’m using the pattern kit from lion brand.

That is a typo in the pattern! The video is correct and it is supposed to be 3 rows before the strawberries, so that the bobbles of the strawberries pop out on the right side. There are two rows after the strawberries are done. If you email me at eclairemakery@gmail.com, I’ll fix the pdf and send you the corrected version. I’ll also make sure that the Lion Brand one is corrected! Thank you for catching that!
