The crisp fresh smell of pine trees is one of my favorite things about the holidays. There’s something about it that makes me want to curl up by a fire with a hot mug of tea, and watch snow fall outside. Growing up by the beach, I always had to travel to be in the forest surrounded by pine trees. So that means that I have to bring the pine trees a little closer to me by crocheting my latest free crochet pattern, the Pinewood Pillow! This tapestry crochet pillow pattern is made using Faux Fur yarn and chunky yarn to give all sorts of amazing texture to this pillow case. I’m pretty much obsessed!
My Inspiration
I’ve always had a drawn to the outdoors and the mountains, and have been finding myself inspired by nature in most of my designs lately. Also being obsessed with bobbles, I wanted to create a modern crochet pillow that could work as a crochet home decor piece during the holidays or during the winter months. This design captures my love of pine trees and the mountains, combined with my love of tapestry crochet. It’s my new favorite pillow design!

The Yarn
For this pattern, I wanted it to be all about the texture. When I saw my Walmart was carrying Lion Brand Go Fur Faux yarn and an all new pine colored Hometown USA color, I knew I needed to design with it! Let’s just say the combination of the faux fur yarn and the texture of the green tweed are a match made in heaven. The white faux fur gives an incredible softness to the main part of the pillow, and the green tweed creates beautiful bobbles that compliment the fur. Don’t like faux fur? No problem! You can always use another super bulky yarn for the main part of the pillow.

Supplies:
- Lion Brand Wool Ease Thick & Quick (or other weight 6 yarn) in:
- Sequoia 10 yards
- Lion Brand Hometown USA in:
- Riverdale Tweed 81 yards
- Lion Brand Go Fur Faux (or other weight 6 yarn):
- Baked Alaska 4 skeins or 240 yards
- 10.0mm crochet hook
- Yarn needle
- Scissors

Fasten off and leave a tail for sewing.
Assembly:
Put the panels right sides together, and sew along the edges to seam up the sides of the pillow. If you are using a pillow form, when you have one side left to sew up, turn it inside out, you’ll put the pillow form inside the case and finish sewing around it. If you are just using stuffing, sew the sides till you have a small hole left, turn it inside out, and stuff the pillow completely before sewing up the rest of the pillow.
