How to Crochet the Summer Breeze Dress

Probably my favorite thing to wear during the summer is sundresses! There is something so fun about wearing a flowing dress that keeps you cool and looks so cute. If you love dresses, then the Summer Breeze Dress is your new favorite dress to crochet! This modern and chic crochet dress pattern is a beautiful dress that is perfect for summer. Made using cotton yarn, simple stitches, and crocheted in one piece, this dress is a fun crochet sundress pattern. It’s also an easy crochet dress pattern for beginners, since it is made in one piece, so there is no seaming at all! This pattern will walk you all through how to crochet this great summer dress!

My Inspiration

Originally I created this dress to wear to Our Maker Life 2019, to impress Lion Brand Yarn. It’s my dream to be able to work with their company, and this dress was my big effort to create something that they would love. I also wanted to share it as a part of The Hook Nook Life Blog’s Summer Maker Call, and that’s originally where this pattern was published! This dress is filled with my love of wearing dresses, and those fun summer dresses that you get to wear in the summer.

Dress Construction

Whenever I make garments, I’m all about the no seaming made in one piece crochet patterns. My first crochet garment that I made was a crochet raglan dress, where I didn’t have to sew one thing. It made me fall in love with crocheting my own clothes, so I love creating the same type of garments. This crochet dress pattern is made in one piece, and is made using simple techniques so that it is a great beginner friendly dress. No matter what your skill level is, you can totally make this dress! It also comes in sizes XS-3X, including everything ranging from small to plus sizes.

The Yarn

As I designed this dress, I wanted to use a cotton yarn to make a lightweight garment that I could wear during the warm months. To make this dress, I used one of my new favorite cotton yarns, Lion Brand 24/7 Cotton. This yarn is a 100% mercerized cotton worsted weight yarn, which gives it a silky smooth feel and beautiful drape for summer garments. It comes in a wide range of bright and neutral summer colors. There’s a reason so many designers love it! It was the perfect yarn for this dress! The yarn created amazing stitch definition in the neckline with the horizontal puff stitches, and made the fabric have an open and airy feel to it. If this yarn isn’t your thing, a lightweight cotton worsted weight yarn like Lion Brand 24/7 cotton or your other favorite cotton yarn like Lion Brand ZZ Twist or Lion Brand Jeans would work. However, if you want to make this dress for colder months, you can use any worsted weight yarn to make this.
