How to Crochet a Llama Wall Hanging

How to Crochet a Llama Wall Hanging

I don’t know about you, but I love llamas! If something has a llama on it I probably want it! So that makes this crochet llama wall hanging pattern one of my new favorite free crochet patterns I have on my blog. I’ve even found a way to do tapestry crochet with different stitches than the traditional single crochet or double crochet. This is an easy crochet llama pattern that you can easily learn how to do, and make for your home. If you love llamas too then you’ll definitely want to make this fun tapestry crochet wall hanging!

My Inspiration

I don’t know about you, but there is just something about llamas that I just love. Maybe it’s their fluffy fur or long necks, but whatever it is I just want one. It could also be how their close cousin the alpaca is tied to yarn. After I learned how to do tapestry crochet and started creating my own tapestry crochet patterns, one of the first ideas I had was a llama wall hanging pattern with bobbles as the fur. I wanted to find a way to get create with the crochet stitches used in the pattern, instead of the typical ones you use in tapestry crochet. After learning how to also do the lemon peel stitch, I knew I had found the perfect combination of textures for this design. So many fun stitches and things included in this pattern!

The Yarn

To make this wall hanging I used Hobby Lobby Soft & Sleek yarn, in cream and mauve, which made the perfect combination. This yarn ended up having an amazing drape that worked so well with the design of this crochet wall hanging. If you’re not a fan of these colors though, you could easily do this wall hanging pattern with any worsted weight yarn. I can just picture it in a nursery done in cute baby colors. Wouldn’t that be such a great crochet decoration for a kids room? If you don’t have a Hobby Lobby near you, you can easily use any other worsted weight yarn in pastel colors to make this.
