Chevron Crochet Washcloth: Free Tapestry Crochet Pattern

If you’re looking for a fun crochet washcloth, look no further than the Chevron Washcloth! This beginner friendly free tapestry crochet washcloth pattern made a wonderful gift, or works great for yourself. Its unique chevron design is created using tapestry crochet, and has a lovely texture made with the lemon peel stitch.  You’re going to love making these!

Inspiration

Most washcloth patterns out there don’t involve patterns created with different colors, and instead are just solid. As a kid I loved the patterned washcloths we got to use, so why not crochet some that would work for adults too! Since I love using tapestry crochet, I knew this would be the perfect technique to bring this fun chevron washcloth to life. The chevron pattern adds a unique twist to the traditional crochet washcloth. Add that with the lemon peel stitch, and you have a beautiful and stylish crochet chevron washcloth that would look beautiful in your home! Not to mention how great it will be to add these to your daily care routine.

Construction

This washcloth has a super simple construction. It’s crocheted in one piece and is worked flat. The chevron stripes are created with tapestry crochet. If you’ve never done tapestry crochet before, this is a perfect beginner free tapestry crochet pattern! It only uses two colors, and it’s easy to keep track of the color changes. Don’t know how to do tapestry crochet? No problem! Check out my Beginner’s Guide to Tapestry Crochet here on my blog that teaches you all of the techniques you’ll need for this pattern. I’ve also created a video tutorial on my Youtube Channel that walks you through each step of this washcloth pattern so that it’s super easy to make.

The Yarn

To make this washcloth, I used one of my favorite cotton yarns, Lion Brand Re-up yarn. This cotton blend yarn is 85% Cotton, 15% Polyester, and is made with recycled cotton, which saves over 5,000 cups of water per skein of yarn. I love this cotton yarn so much! It’s soft, durable, and works great for washcloths or hand towels. The texture created with this yarn and the lemon peel stitch works wonderfully for washing your face, the dishes, or anything else you’d need a washcloth for. If you don’t have access to the Lion Brand Re-Up yarn, I recommend Lily’s Sugar and Cream as an alternative.
