Knit Academy: How to Knit the Knit Stitch

Man, sometimes life just gets ahead of you and you have no idea how you thought you could do so much. That’s what happened to me these last two weeks, and I got way behind on delivering the rest off the Knit Academy lessons. I’m hunkering down though, determined to get them out there so that you can keep learning how to knit! Today’s lesson is all about how to knit the knit stitch. The knit stitch is hands down the most foundational stitch of knitting followed by purling. I love using the knit stitch because it’s simple technique creates a super warm fabric with a classic knitwear look. It can also be combined with the purl stitch to create all manner of combinations, and you’ll be able to use it in almost every knitting project that you’ll…

Bobble Stitch Crochet Tutorial

If there’s one stitch that’s trending in crochet design right now, then it is definitely the bobble stitch. You might have seen it used to accent different crochet patterns, or seen sweaters made completely of bobbles. They’re one of my favorite stitches! I’ve been using them in so many of my designs recently that I had to make myself diversify my stitches more, so everything wouldn’t look the same, haha. What I love about them is that they are such a simple stitch that adds a great pop of texture to a design, and they make the crochet fabric thick and cozy. Bobble stitches are perfect accent stitches to use in crochet patterns! I love using the bobble stitch as a brim on a crochet hat, or for a beautiful texture on a crochet bobble blanket wrap. I’ve…

How to Crochet the Crystal Stitch

Do you love learning new stitches?? I love the feeling of learning something new that I get to apply to my craft and use to create anything I want! Since I love that so much, I decided that I want to start doing a series this year called Stitching Saturdays, where I have a new crochet tutorial that I release every Saturday. I’ll do stitches that I enjoy doing, have learned, or have even created myself! This week’s stitch is the Crystal Stitch, which is a stitch pattern that I created to make my Ocean Crystals Cowl. It’s a fairly simple stitch that uses chain stitches and double crochets to create the affect of crystals being grouped together. Very similar to the stitches used for granny squares, this stitch is very easy to pick up rather quickly. Let’s get started! Pin it…

DIY Yarn Stash Organizer

Do you have a crazy yarn stash that seems like it’s always out of control? I know I do! It’s so much easier to buy a bunch of yarn instead of finding a way to organize it. Anyone else feel the same way? Well, I’ve got a solution for all of our disorganized yarn needs: introducing, my new DIY Yarn Stash Organizer! The key part of it is my Yarn Stash organizer cards where you can fill out all of the information that you have on the yarn labels onto the card, and tie a piece of yarn onto it so you always know what yarn the label was for. I wanted to create an organizer that would help me keep track of all of the skeins of yarn that come through my stash, which if I’m honest is quite a lot…
