Cozy up with your new favorite crochet blanket, the Bobbles and Blocks Blanket! This super easy crochet blanket pattern is made from bobble stitches and block stitches, which create an amazing crochet texture. It can be customized to any size, and is the perfect relaxing meditative crochet project.
Scroll down for the free lapghan size pattern, or keep reading for more details about the pattern. If you’d like all three sizes (baby blanket, lapghan, and throw) of the blanket, get the PDF version in my Etsy and Ravelry shops.

Skills needed for this pattern
My goal with this pattern was to make something approachable for crocheters who know the basics of crochet, and want to grow their skills. If you know how to double crochet, then you can make this pattern! The bobble stitch and block stitch both build off of that basic stitch to make some amazing texture.
If you’d like to practice the block stitch before beginning this blanket pattern, you can find a step by step tutorial here on my blog here or watching the video below.
I’ve also created a step by step video tutorial to teach you how to crochet the Bobbles and Blocks Blanket! It walks you through how to crochet the bobble stitch, block stitch, and more. You can check it out on my Youtube channel here or by watching the video below.
Customization and Sizes
One of my favorite parts of this blanket is that it can be made in any size! The written pattern below is configured for a lapghan size, and then the PDF pattern also includes a baby blanket and throw size. You can easily make it to any dimensions you would like though. Work in multiples of 3+1, and then add an extra chain to that when doing the starting chains.
The size dimensions that are included are:
- Baby Blanket: 23” x 23” (available in PDF version)
- Lapghan: 36” x 40” (sample size pictured)
- Throw Blanket: 48” x 52” (available in PDF version)

The Yarn
To make this blanket pattern, I used Lion Brand Vanna’s Choice. It’s a classic acrylic yarn that has such beautiful colorways, and is also nice and afforable. Here are the yarn details:
- 100% acrylic
- Worsted Weight 4 yarn
- 170 yds per skein
- Comes in 35 colors!

- This pattern uses US crochet terminology.

- If you are adapting the pattern to your own custom size. Here are the measurements for each section:
- The rows with bobbles may bunch up depending on your tension. If you would like them to lay flatter, use a wet blocking technique.
