This cute and easy Bobble Notions Pouch is perfect for carrying around all of your essentials, like crochet hooks!
This crochet pouch with a zipper has stylish bobble stitches covering it, which give it a modern flair. You can use this colorful tapestry crochet pouch as a makeup bag, a notions pouch, or a crochet bag to hold other necessities! It makes a great beginner friendly tapestry crochet pattern. Construction
The unique one-piece construction of the Bobble Notions Bag means limited sewing on your part. The textured style of this crochet pouch pattern is made from bobble stitches using the tapestry crochet technique. Not only does the tapestry crochet technique provide a colorful pouch, but also helps add to the durability of the pattern since you are carrying the yarn. If this is your first time attaching a zipper to crochet, don’t let that stop you! This pattern includes a step-by-step picture tutorial that explains a simple technique I use that you will definitely want to use again. Soon you’ll be adding zippers to all of your crochet bags!
The Yarn
To make this crochet notions pouch, I used Lion Brand’s 24/7 Cotton yarn. The 24/7 Cotton yarn is a durable, 100% mercerized cotton yarn that gives the pouch a durable crochet fabric. It comes in such a beautiful variety of colors, and is one of my favorite cotton yarns that I’ve used. Don’t have access to 24/7 cotton? No problem! This bag can be made using any type of yarn you have on hand, but cotton yarn will help it last the longest.

Supplies:
- The following amounts of Lion Brand 24/7 Cotton yarn (or a similar worsted weight (4) cotton yarn)
- Color A: 1 skein (140 yards) of the color “jade”
- Color B: 1 skein (100 yards) of the color “ecru”
- 5.00mm crochet hook
- 4.00mm crochet hook
- Tapestry needle
- Scissors
- 10” zipper

Abbreviations/Stitches Used:

Using a 5.00mm crochet hook and color A, ch 44
Row 1: with A sc in 2nd ch from hook, sc in each ch across, ch 1, turn (43 sts)
Row 2: with A sc next 7 sts, with B ps, *with A sc next 3 sts, with B ps* rep 6 more times, with A sc in last 7 sts, ch 1, turn (43 sts)
Row 3: with A sc in each st across, ch 1, turn (43 sts)
Row 4: with A sc next 9 sts, with B ps, *with A sc next 3 sts, with B ps* rep 5 more times, with A sc last 9 sts (43 sts)
Fasten off.
With the right side of the project facing you, join color A in the 7th st from the right, working over color B.
Row 5: with A ch 1, sc in same st, sc in next 30 sts, ch 1, turn (31 sts)
Row 6: with A sc in 1st st, with B ps, * with A sc next 3 sts,with B ps* rep 6 more times, with A sc in last st, ch 1, turn (31 sts)
Row 7: with A sc in each st across, ch 1, turn (31 sts)

Row 17: with A sc in each st across, ch 1, turn (43 sts)

Fasten off.
With the right side of the project facing you, join color A in the 7th st from the right, working over color B.
Rows 25 – 34: rep rows 5 – 14
Fasten off
Rows 35 – 39: rep rows 15 – 19
Fasten off, weave in all ends.
Zipper
- Lay zipper flat and make 22 evenly spaced marks along both sides.
- Using a tapestry needle, weave color A up and down through the fabric of the zipper to create 22 stitches.
- Repeat on opposite side of zipper, making sure the stitches are even on both sides.
Assembly
- Begin with the right side of fabric facing you. Use a 4.00mm crochet hook to attach the zipper with single crochet stitches. Work through each of the 43 stiches from row 39.
- Work 2 single crochet stitches into each stitch on the zipper (one of the stitches on the zipper will have to include 3 single crochet stitches since there are 43 stitches total in row 39.)
- Once completed, fold the opposite end of the bag up to meet the zipper. The right side of the bag should be facing you.
- Repeat steps 1 & 2 for the opposite side.
5. Fold the bag inside out so the wrong side is facing you. Use a tapestry needle and a 12” length of color A to whip stitch along the dotted lines in the first picture below. You can sew through the zipper to secure it further.
6. Use a tapestry needle and 12” length of color A to whip stitch along the dotted lines in the second picture below. Unzip the zipper and repeat for the opposite side.
7. Weave in all ends and turn bag right side out.
