Apple A Day Crochet Basket: Free Crochet Pattern

Whether it’s time for fall, or back to school, apples are a fun accent to your home decor! The Apple a Day basket is a free tapestry crochet basket pattern that you’ll love making. Its simple apple motifs would be perfect to add to a teacher’s classroom, or as a set of cute fall crochet baskets! It’s an easy tapestry crochet pattern for beginners that you’ll want to make again and again.

Inspiration

As a big lover of fall, apples are one of my favorite things to put on something. I love how they add splashes of color, and apple flavored anything tastes amazing! So because of that, making an apple basket for fall seemed like the perfect crochet basket pattern to make! I also wanted to create a pattern that would make a wonderful teacher gift during back to school time or for teacher appreciation. Teachers often have apple motifs in their classrooms, so this crochet apple basket would be such a cute crochet decor pattern to give to them!

Construction

The Apple a Day basket is a free crochet basket pattern made using tapestry crochet in the round through the back loops only. This helps avoid the pesky slanting that can happen when you do tapestry crochet in the round. The basket is worked in one piece, which means no seaming or sewing is involved. By using just single crochet and half double crochet, this tapestry crochet basket pattern is perfect for beginners. Even if it is your first project, this tapestry crochet pattern for beginners is super easy to do. If you’ve never done tapestry crochet before, be sure to check out my Beginner’s Guide to Tapestry Crochet.

The Yarn

For this pattern I used Premier Yarns Everyday Worsted yarn, which is one of the softest worsted yarns I’ve worked with. I love the color palattes they offer in that yarn, as well as how it makes such a lovely fabric. It made a great yarn to make this basket, and I love the way the colors all blended together. If you don’t have this yarn available near you, or would like to make a sturdier fabric, I recommend using Red Heart Super Saver or Lion Brand Vanna’s Choice. Those two worsted weight yarns come in beautiful colors, and will give your basket thick fabric that will make it stand up better. No matter what worsted weight yarn you use, this pattern will turn out great!
