C2C Crochet Tropical Toucan Blanket: C2C Crochet Blanket Pattern

Bring a piece of the tropics into your home with the C2C Tropical Toucan Blanket! This C2C crochet graphgan blanket pattern features a beautiful toucan in the midst of the jungle. It’s a cozy, fun, and gorgeous blanket made with C2C crochet. If you or someone you love is a fan of toucans, then this is just the C2C crochet blanket pattern for you need!

Inspiration

When I first designed this blanket, it was to appear in the February Issue of Happily Hooked Magazine. The theme for the month was spring vacation with an emphasis on the tropics. Whenever I think of tropical things, a few of my first thoughts are monstera leaves, hibiscus, and toucans. I don’t know why, but they just scream tropical! As I thought of those, an idea began to bloom in my head of a toucan blanket with the toucan at the center surrounded by jungle foliage. It turned out even better than I could have ever thought!

Construction

This crochet blanket pattern is made using C2C crochet, and involves colors changes. I would rank it as an intermediate C2C crochet pattern just because you do have to change colors rather frequently. The pattern starts out in the bottom right with the jungle foliage, and then works up to the toucan, ending at the top left with foliage again. This pattern will have you becoming a C2C crochet color change pro!

The Yarn

To make this pattern, you can use any worsted weight yarn. I used Hobby Lobby I Love This Yarn, but any worsted weight yarn would work. The fun thing about this pattern is that if you want to use up some yarn from your stash for the flowers, you can use any color you want! You’ll mainly need yarn for the background, and if you have at least one skein of the other colors, you should be fine. Besides Hobby Lobby I Love This Yarn, one of my favorite yarns is Lion Brand Basic Stitch. It’s so soft and comes in some amazing colors! Other great affordable yarns for this blanket would be Red Heart Super Saver or Caron Simply Soft.
