T-Shirt Yarn Crochet Basket With Handles and Coaster: Free Crochet Patterns

Do you ever feel like you need more storage, but don’t have anything to put your items in? I know I do! My favorite solution for that is to crochet a basket! It’s a basket made of yarn to hold more yarn or other knick knacks. I’m so in for that! I love using t-shirt yarn to make a nice chunky crochet basket. The featured pattern of the week is even a crochet basket with handles, and includes a chunky crochet coaster pattern as well.

Today’s guest blogger of the week is Irina from KnitzNPurlz. She creates her very own t-shirt yarn, and simple quick projects to make using her fabulous yarn. I’ve got a pattern in the works with it, and absolutely love it! Be sure to check out her Etsy store where she sells all of her wonderful yarn.

The free crochet pattern Irina is sharing today is a T-Shirt Yarn Crochet Basket With Handles and a matching Crochet Coaster. This easy, chunky crochet basket is great for beginners, and is ideal for crocheting while watching your favorite tv show. By using the t-shirt yarn, you create a nice and sturdy basket, that wont cave in or limp. It’s super quick to make to, and uses just the single crochet stitch! So I’ll hand things over to Irina, so she can share her pattern!

Introduction

Hi everyone, My name is Irina! I’ve been a knitter and crocheter for as long as I can remember (thanks mom!), and am the maker behind everything that goes on with Knitznpurlz. I have to confess, I don’t like big knitting or crochet projects! I’m “Netflix and knit” kind of girl that’s all about the easy or mindless patterns. After getting frustrated with counting numerous stitches and trying to figure out complicated patterns, I started to make my own easy to follow patterns that were quick to make.

The Yarn

Through that I ended up working with t-shirt yarn, which I sell in my shop! By using t-shirt yarn, an entire project takes me just a couple of hours to complete. The main idea behind all my patterns is simplicity and originality,(holla!) so you can relax and enjoy the process.

The Pattern

Today I have the honor to share one of my patterns on E’Claire Makery’s blog: a free crochet pattern of a crochet basket with handles and matching coasters. It literally took me a couple of hours to crochet the basket and 4 coasters for my dining room table. I have a bunch of knitted throws and pillows in all my rooms at home, and wanted my dining room to look as cozy as my other rooms. Crochet basket and coasters were perfect for it!  I love that t-shirt yarn gives sturdiness to crochet baskets which makes this pattern practical too, so I can actually put something inside and use it as a table centerpiece. T-shirt yarn is 100% cotton, machine washable, and it won’t ruin the shape of your basket.

Here are some patterns I’m loving and you’d love too:
