31 days of Candy Day 28: Nerdy Box Free Crochet Pattern

Nerdy Box Free Crochet Pattern: 31 Days of Candy Day 29 by E'Claire Makery

Hi friends! It’s Day 28 of the 31 Days of Candy, and we’re almost done with this fun month of candy. I’m on my honeymoon now, so this is a short introduction today. The candy for the day is my Nerdy Box pattern that’s inspired by Nerds candy that is one of my favorites. It also was inspired by my major nerdy side that I have! I am a huge nerd. I love superheroes, Star Wars, Lord of the Rings, Dungeons and Dragons, and anything that might be a part of nerd culture. This candy is for all of the nerds and candy lovers out there!

Materials

Stitches Used:

  • st = stitch
  • dc = double crochet (UK treble Crochet)
  • ch = chain

Recipe Notes:

  • The Nerdy Box is made in one piece with the ends and sides sewn together.
  • Pattern uses US crochet terminology, but the UK terminology conversion is listed in the stitches used list above
  • Face is made of felt pieces that are cut out and sewn on to the crocheted piece. Download my Felt Pieces for Plushies PDF Printout for the face pieces you’ll cut out of felt. Cut out two eyes from black felt, one mouth from pink felt, and a tongue from red felt. If you don’t know how to sew on felt pieces, see my Youtube video below that shows how to do it.

Nerdy Box

Rnd 1: sc 12, starting in 2nd ch from hook dc 10 across

Rnd 2-5: ch 2, turn, dc 10 across (10)

Switch to pink

Rnd 6-10: ch 2, turn, dc 10 across (10)

Fasten off and leave a tail for sewing. Sew on face to Nerdy Box, and stitch glasses around the eyes of the nerdy box. Then sew the two ends together, and arrange it so that half of it in the front is pink and the other half is purple as pictured below. The seal up the rest of the edges on the candy bar.
